Tire Expiration Explained: Alamin Kung Kelan Nag-eexpire ang Gulong
Recently, a viral post from Visor PH showed a car stranded on the roadside with a blown-out tire. At first glance, you’d think it was a factory defect, kasi kilala at trusted brand naman ang gulong. Pero nung nalaman ang tunay na dahilan, mas nakakagulat: the tire had been installed since 2003. Dalawang dekada na pala itong ginagamit!
The driver was lucky the blowout happened in slow traffic, not on an expressway.

WHY TIRE EXPIRATION MATTERS - EVEN FOR BIG BRANDS
Over time, the rubber hardens, cracks, and loses grip. Hindi mo man makita agad ang damage, pero mataas ang chance na magka-blowout o madisgrasya lalo na sa high-speed roads like NLEX or SLEX.
HOW TO CHECK TIRE EXPIRATION DATE

Example: DOT 3811 → ibig sabihin ginawa siya noong 38th week of 2011.
From there, bilangin mo lang: kapag lumagpas na ng 5–6 years, time to replace.
HOW MANY YEARS DO TIRES LAST?
Best Practice: Start checking your tire after year 4.
SAFETY FIRST: DON’T WAIT FOR A BLOWOUT
Worn out or expired tires means compromised safety.
